Grilled Sesame Steak – Winter Grilling Series

Whether you live in the mountains or in the desert, wintertime brings a general decrease in outside grilling.  This ought not to be so!  The Winter Grilling Series from Summerset brings warmhearted and fiery recipes to your home to enjoy through these colder, even frigid, months.  Your body needs protein in the cold, and this week’s Grilled Sesame Steak is the perfect meal on a brisk evening.  With a simple marinade featuring soy sauce, ginger, and sesame seeds, these robust T-bone steaks turn out succulent and tender.

This recipe is super simple allowing you to make marinate a day ahead, and only grill the steaks in minutes, keeping you out of the cold. Combine soy sauce, brown sugar, oil, sesame seeds, onion powder, lemon juice, and ginger in a resealable bag or baking dish.  Add the steaks to the marinade and refrigerate for at least four hours allowing the citrus and salt to break down the tissue and infuse the meat with moisture. Grill marinated steaks over medium heat for 5-7 minutes per side until the desired doneness.  The sugars will caramelize, the ginger and sesame aromas will saturate, and these steaks will warm the tummy with each bite.  Don’t let winter be a time of hibernation; get outside (in short bursts have you) and enjoy hot food from your grill all year round with the Winter Grilling Series.
